Module 2 Week 06 Homework (Simple Crate and Barrel)

Here is my submission for the second "Simple Crate and Barrel" assignment. This time around, I created a High Res version of the crate using ZBrush, then baked it onto a lower Game Res version of the crate using Substance Painter. Here are some renders of both the baked Game Res model and the original High Res model for comparison:

Week 05 - Use of Perspective

This week in common art, we created props in three different perspectives, one point, two point, and three point. I created some playing cards that I'm thinking could be used for the player to interact with, and maybe possibly use as a weapon. I mainly wanted to use it as a reference to the Queen of Hearts from the original story by including a Queen of Hearts card tossed aside with one of its heads torn off with the eyes scratched out. This would most likely have been done by our character Alice, who has plenty of malice towards her. The cards also have a "grungy" texture to give it more of a texture similar to "Ori and the Blind Forest", and due to this being located in a sewer.

Anyway, after creating the model, I added it to Photoshop, drew on a design, and added some extra layers to add things such as the outline and ambient occlusion. Here's what I came up with:

Module 2 Week 05 Homework (Simple Crate and Barrel)

This is my submission for the simple crate and barrel assignment, where I will take one of three options (crate, barrel, or chest), and create a model that can be imported as an asset in unreal over the course of a few weeks. I went with the crate with metal surrounding the corners. This week consists of mainly blocking and creating a high res mesh of the crate I chose.

Week 04- Use of Basic Lighting

This week's common art's assignment has to do with incorporating lighting (and color) to the selected designs from the previous week. The designs I worked on from last week are one of my rabbit hands designs and one of Sai's Alice designs.

Module 1 Week 04 Homework (ZBrush Hammer Project)

This assignment involves sculpting a fantasy hammer weapon using ZBrush. I wound up using the same design that was referenced in the videos provided by Nick.

Final Render:

I tried going for a more "weathered" look, with plenty of smaller cracks along the head of the hammer.

Process:

Blocking

Adding cracks for etching (design changed in the final render)

Adding cracks and dings on the main parts of the hammer

Adding cracks and dings on the outer edges of the hammer and spikes

Overall, I still need to get used to navigating ZBrush's UI, since I had some issues with the symmetry settings and the display settings, but it's a neat tool to use, and I'm hoping I can get better with it over time. Peace and take care!

Nick mentioned using Michelangelo as a reference for the eyes

Used to figure out how to crease the eyebrows, since I struggled a bit with that

I wound up using the second to last one on the bottom as my reference

Overall, ZBrush is really neat and fun to use, making it super easy to create detailed models when compared with Maya. I still have to get used to the controls though.
